Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I need to continue seeing my General Dentist?
Yes we highly recommend that you keep up with your regular check ups.

  • Does orthodontic treatment hurt?
Every now and again a patient says that the first few days after fitting or adjustments can be uncomfortable. This varies between each individual patient.

  • Are there possible risks of orthodontic treatment?
The main risks are associated with poor brushing as failure to keep appliances clean can lead to progressive decay or permanent staining
. Fixed braces cause minor changes to the roots of the teeth but this is not usually a problem. Very occasionally, changes to the roots can be more serious.

  • How much will the treatment cost?
We offer free NHS treatment for patients under 18 years old. Older patients are offered treatment on a private basis. The cost will depend on the difficulty of the treatment and the type of appliances that are needed. Our prices at Manor Clinic are very reasonable. Why not call us and book an appointment for an initial chat at a cost £25 and we will be able to spend some time with you to explain the treatment and answer any questions.
Please note there is currently a waiting list for NHS treatment at our clinic.

  • How long will the treatment take?
It ususally takes 12-24 months but will vary according to how complex your case is.

If you have any more questions that you would like to ask, please write them down and talk to us at your next appointment. It is important that you fully understand what is involved in having orthodontic treatment before you decide to go ahead.
