Aligners, also called invisible braces, is a method of treatment involving the use of a series of removable plastic see-through trays that are custom made for you.
Each aligner has to be worn normally between 2-3 weeks before moving to the next one. Each aligner allows a small amount of tooth movement until the desired result is achieved. The trays are not visible when you are wearing them and are often referred to as 'invisible braces'. We use an intra-oral scanner to get a three dimensional scan of your teeth after which the aligners are fabricated.
You will normally get a batch of four to eight aligners before a new intra-oral scan is carried out and a new batch fabricated.
Aligners are not recommended for complex cases, severe crowding or when extraction of teeth is indicated.
