Fixed appliances are also referred to as “train track braces”. 

These are small metal or clear ceramic pieces attached to the surfaces of the teeth and connected with wires. These cannot be removed but allow precise tooth movements in all 3 dimensions for optimal results. 

The ceramic brackets are popular with adults as they are less visible and are available only on a private basis. If ceramic brackets are preferred, we only use the superior 3M Clarity ceramic brackets at Manor Clinic. 

Fixed appliances are normally followed by retainers  to minimise relapse of the treatment results. Treatment normally takes 18-24 months to complete depending on the severity of the initial problem.
